THE BAND

KYLE DOMANGUE
Guitar, Vocals, Songwriter

KYLE is a Louisiana‑born singer‑songwriter whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with the melodic spirit of classic American artists like James Taylor, Firefall, and the Allman Brothers. His creative path began in Panama City Beach, where mentors encouraged and helped him to overcome stage fright and to start writing songs. After serving as a U.S. Army tank commander during Desert Storm, he returned home with a deeper emotional well to draw from, performing around LSU while studying architecture

His journey later led to Phoenix, where he formed The Preserve. After releasing three albums, they began opening for national acts. Returning home back in Louisiana, he then founded Voodoo Bayou and discovered a renewed love for music collaboration. His marriage and partnership with wife, Lisa, have helped become a defining force and influence in his work today, culminating with the band’s upcoming album, “Step into the Sun“.

BILLY “WILD BILL” STARK
Piano, Hammond B-3, Keyboards, Vocals

BILLY is from Houma, LA and has been playing guitar, piano and keyboards since an early age. Inspired by The Beatles’ first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, Billy picked up a plastic guitar and never looked back. Guitars from a gut‑string Decca to an Epiphone Zephyr Regent, gifted by his Uncle Bobby, this guitar player-turned pianist’s early love of music carried him from grade‑school cafeteria shows to a lifelong pursuit of sound.

A phenomenal self-taught musician and keyboardist for 50+ years, drawing from rock, reggae, gospel, and classical influences, he’s built a unique, soulful style grounded in feel, not form, a player who hears with his hands and remembers with his heart. Through the years, his music passion and stage energy has coined his nickname “Wild Bill”, which is a testament to his talents, fun to watch and is truly a blessing having him in the Band.

Michael Klaus

MICHAEL KLAUS
Guitar, Bass, Vocals

MICHAEL, originally from Thibodaux, Louisiana, grew up in a deeply musical family, beginning formal piano lessons at age 4. After nearly a decade of study, he shifted his focus to guitar in 1999 in pursuit of a new musical direction. Shortly thereafter, he and fellow church musicians formed a band. With multiple guitarists already in the group, Michael expanded his versatility by learning electric bass in addition to the guitar.

At just 15, Michael began performing professionally each summer at Noah’s Ark (an Advance Special mission project of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church) in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he worked and played music nightly from 2002 through 2007. During this time he showcased his skills on electric bass, acoustic and lead guitar, and served as a lead vocalist and later as the band leader. During this time, Michael had the opportunity to study and perform with respected musicians including jazz pianist Paul David Longstreth and professional double bassist Mitchell Player, both from New Orleans, as well as guitarist Jimmy Ward and jazz artist Luke Pinegar, among other talented staff musicians at Noah’s Ark.

Since joining Voodoo Bayou, Michael has shared the stage with notable artists such as Justin Moore, Thaddeus Richard (of McCartney/Wings), Louisiana’s LeRoux (Louisiana Music Hall of Fame inductees), Restless Heart, Randy Jackson (Zebra), and Louisiana’s “Rockin’ Fiddler” Waylon Thibodeaux among others.

In May 2010, Michael earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Music from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, studying under his father, Dr. Kenneth S. Klaus. At Nicholls State he performed in multiple choral ensembles and played both double bass and electric bass with the Nicholls Blue Bayou Big Band.

Today, Michael serves as Director of Music at Houma First United Methodist Church and teaches General Music at St. Bernadette Catholic School in Houma. When he isn’t making music or teaching, he enjoys traveling and spending quality time with his wife, Rachel and their two daughters. Michael is grateful for their love and support of his career.

SAM LECOMPTE
Drums, Percussion

SAM, a Thibodaux native, born and raised in the heart of south Louisiana, has had a drumstick in his hand since the age of 4. Heavily influenced by his four older brothers as well as powerhouse legends—Bonham, Peart, and Van Halen—Sam’s style is a blend of rock-solid foundation and decades of intuition.

With 30+ years of experience, Sam is a seasoned percussionist and educator and has navigated every genre imaginable, from the high-energy demands of full-time touring (2007–2009) to the precision required for festivals, weddings, and private events. Whether he’s behind the kit performing or mentoring the next generation as a percussion instructor for Lafourche Parish schools, his life is defined by solid rhythm.

When the sticks are down, Sam balances a heavy performing schedule with enjoying life at home with his wife Jozie and their daughter or perfecting a recipe in the kitchen. Sam has been an amazing addition to Voodoo Bayou and the Band is honored to have him performing with us.
